Prison cells and mattress inspection machines
In response to appeals from security authorities in US prisons and jails seeking an efficient tool for uncovering hidden contraband within mattresses, LINEV Systems developed a solution focusing on customer needs.
The company introduced a distinctive, portable, and exceptionally adaptable device to the market. This pioneering system represented the first of its kind tailored explicitly to tackle the challenge of contraband in detention systems. It is designed to eliminate the necessity of folding mattresses to fit into conventional X-ray inspection systems, which simplifies and speeds up inspections while enhancing detection rates.
The BV M.A.X. is a compact mobile conveyor-type X-ray unit designed for fast, efficient, and contact-free inspection of mattresses and inmates’ personal property. Its compact design and special wheels make it easily relocatable and deployable to any location where security inspections are required, and it can fit through most standard interior doorways with ease.
The BV M.A.X. also includes full baggage scanner functionality and is capable of inspecting mattress, mail and personal property. With the increasing threat of terrorism, the ability to conduct, mattress X-ray scanning to identify potentially dangerous objects or substances has become crucial. This security technology has various applications, including preventing the smuggling of drugs, precious stones, and metals. It also plays a key role in providing security at airports, banks, embassies, nuclear power centers, prisons, and other high-risk locations. X-ray luggage examination is currently the most effective way to ensure flight security in airports. Additionally, X-ray examination is used in prisons and jails for visitor access control.
Nonetheless, prison inmates’ mattresses are still regularly checked and searched for weapons and illegal substances through manual inspections. Inmates are required to vacate their cells, and guards manually search the premises, with a particular focus on inspecting the mattresses, as they are often a prime location for hiding weapons or drugs. In some facilities, inmates are instructed to bring their rolled-up mattresses to a designated area for inspection or scanning. Introducing a mobile mattress X-ray scanner that can scan the mattresses would significantly enhance the efficiency of prison officers’ duties.

This approach is also applicable to other institutions, such as detention centers, detention centers, and other facilities where there is a high risk of contraband and illegal items.
