Rotation of powder samples is used to obtain more reliable diffraction patterns by eliminating the influence of texture (the appearance of texture depends on the sample preparation method and its properties). Optimal rotation speed is 1 rotation of the sample around its axis per 1 scanning pitch of the diffractometer.
